Summary on Changmin’s part — モモ (Momo/Peach) English Version

Introducing the character:
Originally came from North Korea. His name is 楚要焕, 26 years old. He has one older brother who is 4 years older than him, and two younger sisters. He was a spy from North Korea organization. Moved to Kyoto, Japan five years ago and exchanged identity with a person named 宗隆生, who is a Korean that lived in Tokyo. Like to introduce himself as 桃太郎 (aka モモ). He always wears wool sweater and jeans with a oldfashioned shoulder bag. He is a master student and teaching assistant in an university.
Also works part-time at a tofu shop called 丸吹. His expertise is to create bombs.
モモ met 幸田 [Kouda] (the main character):
Kouda first saw モモ at the train station. The door was about to close, so Kouda ran immediately into the train. He then realized a guy was behind him but the door closed, therefore the guy couldn’t get on. First, Kouda didn’t recognize モモ until he bumped into モモ again in a stationary store at Akihabana 秋葉原.
Kouda finds him very strange. 野田 [Noda] (another character who is part of the gold robbery plan) asked Kouda if モモ is an alien or ET since no one knows where he was from. Kouda’s apartment can look into モモ’s apartment clearly. Because モモ doesn’t have air conditioner, therefore all the windows are opened most of the time. Yet, he hardly turns on the light at night time even when he was home.
モモ goes to tofu shop everyday at 3am to prepare then does delivery at 9am to the customer near the area. Kouda isn’t sure if モモ will go to school after work since he isn’t around. But he assumed モモ is not a hardworking student since he doesn’t turn on the light and study at night.
After knowing モモ for one month later, they started to get to know each other therefore sometimes they will go out for meals or play lead balls machine game (a very popular machine game in Japan) together. モモ is addicted to this game and goes to the game store in front of the bus stop everyday.
モモ never gets any mails, and not even advertisement letters. He doesn’t even order newspapers so no one would ever come to his house. He probably doesn’t even have any friends or no one even knows where he lives. Moreover, he always disappears for few days or a week. Whenever he goes for a short trip, he will change his old shoulder bag to a blue travel suitcase, yet keeps his outfit. Next time seeing him, even though he looks extremely tired, he will be sitting in front of the lead balls machine playing games.
Kouda believes モモ was the one who set up the bomb explosion at Shibuya 渋谷 police station a month ago since he remembered seeing モモ buying some bomb creating materials at Akihabana at three different stationary stores a year ago.
北川 [Kitagau], the organizer of this robbery plan wanted to invite モモ to join the group, therefore, he asked Kouda to find モモ. But Kouda thinks モモ is too complicated and he killed his own brother so he doesn’t want モモ to be part of them.
Moreover, モモ has disappeared for a while since Kouda last saw him, but Kitagau insists to have モモ in because of his bomb creating expertise.
モモ killed his brother:
This is also how the story begins by discovering the dead body of モモ’s brother.
モモ’s brother is also a spy from North Korea. He came to Japan to kill モモ. Yet, he got killed by モモ with a gun in the head. This gun is believed to be belonged to モモ’s brother. モモ then threw the dead body into the river. Unfortunately, a guy saw モモ and how he disposed the dead body to the river. A passport was found in the dead body, and the name of the passport was 楚要焕.
モモ reappeared in front of Kouda with the same outfit but looked completely different. Most likely because of the beard all over his face. モモ pulled him to a quiet place and questioned if the gun モモ was holding was Kouda’s. モモ’s brother told モモ it was Kouda who told him where モモ lives. モモ also confessed that he used this gun to kill his brother. Kouda said he didn’t even know how his brother looks like, he also said he will keep the gun for now and warned モモ not to cause troubles again or else he will call the police. モモ then mumbled in Korean.
Kouda then dig a hole near his old house on top of a hill where he lived during his childhood, and hided the gun. There’s also a church near his house, too.
モモ joined the gang:
モモ was followed by two people, one was balled the other one was a bit chumpy, to his apartment. Kitagau also followed behind them. Kouda saw it from his apartment so he ran over and helped Kitagau. モモ went into his house and Kouda and Kitagau were fighting with the two guys and Kouda and the two guys fell down the stairs. At this time, they could smell something burning from モモ’s apartment. Kouda ran down to the back of the apartment since he knew モモ would escape from the window while Kitagau ran into the apartment. Kouda saw モモ jumped off from the window, followed with Kitagau. They caught モモ and then they heard an explosion from モモ’s apartment.
Kouda stole a gun from the two guys and Kitagau asked モモ which country is this gun from? モモ didn’t answer. Kitagau then forced the gun to モモ, so モモ had to put the gun in his coat.
Noda came to pick them up and decided to place モモ at [Old man]’s apartment.
Old man’s apartment also lived a young lady. From then on, モモ became a member of the group.
Kouda and Kitagau killed the witness for モモ:
Kouda and モモ began their first mission together by observing the building where they were going to rob. During the observation, モモ saw the guy who was the witness of モモ’s murder. This guy was with the young lady who was living at old man’s apartment. Kouda told モモ they are dating couple. After that, モモ disappeared again for few days.
Kitagau and Kouda thought モモ wanted to kill the witness, therefore they were so mad and beat up モモ after モモ came back. But モモ didn’t kill the guy.
Kitagau and Kouda didn’t want anyone or anything to effect their plans, therefore they killed the witness for モモ.
モモ felt bad that Kitagau and Kouda killed the witness for him. He thought if anyone is going to the jail, it should be him only. He didn’t want to get other people involved. He believes he is going to die or to the jail eventually. Kouda asked モモ why didn’t you kill the witness then. モモ replied by saying there’s no reason to live anymore if I killed a guy like him.
He felt regretted for killing his brother. He wanted to go to church and confess, wanted to find someone to say it to. Therefore, he felt relieved after he told Kouda yet this made Kouda suffered. “…heard from Kitagau that you have a bible. I don’t know anything about you, but one day I want to chat with you about God, chat about my secrets…”
Afterwards, they found out that the witness was controlled by a gangster’s group called 青銅社. This group was looking for モモ. The witness also reported the murder incident to the Japan police.
Kouda and Kitagau suspected that モモ used to be a spy with North Korea but he wanted to quit. Then South Korea wanted to get information from him, therefore, North Korea wanted to kill モモ before South Korea gets him.
Old man betrayed モモ:
Noda started to suspect that there was a traitor in the group. Because the people who wanted to kill モモ always knew where they were or what they did. Even after モモ kept moving and started dressing like a girl. No one ever suspected Old man except Kouda. Since Old man is a scavenger near the river where the dead body was disposed; Therefore, Old man most likely got asked by the police after the incident happened.
Kouda went to ask モモ if he knew anything about Old man. モモ answered yes. Kouda then asked why didn’t you say a word, why didn’t you escape. モモ said because I have no where to go. モモ said he found out Old man was very closed to this guy 末永 who was once a connector with the North, then a Japan police. Back in the days, he would probably kill Old man right away, but since he was not a spy anymore, therefore all he could do now is hide. Kouda told モモ to stay at his place from now.
モモ told Kouda South, North, and Japan police wanted to kill him, and three parties, 末永 (the North), 青銅社 (gangster), and Old man wanted to catch him.
モモ’s death:
From then on, モモ only focused on making bombs but he would still dress like a lady when he went out. He looked exactly like a Kyoto beauty. Also, he smiled more often than before, and looks very pretty when he smiles.
The plan of robbery is going to happen on December 16th, and モモ finished all the bombs and preparations they needed 4 days before the action begins. モモ said to Kouda, only 4 days left before the 16th, but there’s nothing to do anymore. Kouda answered he thought so too.
Then Kitagau told Kouda Noda noticed Old man was seeing 末永 again at Old man’s apartment. At this point, Kitagau wanted to give up モモ since he already finished all his duty and they didn’t need him anymore but they need Old man for his skills during the robbery. Kouda knew that モモ would be in serious danger.
December 15th, Kouda left モモ in his house and went to buy food in the morning. He bought a box of sushi and a carton of milk. After he went back to the apartment, モモ told Kouda that the phone line was cut. Then he took a gun out of his suitcase. モモ told Kouda to hide in the closet. Kouda looked into モモ’s eyes and just looked like the eyes of a professional killer. Kouda then said, “don’t be silly, let’s leave together now. I didn’t see anyone outside when I came back.” モモ shook his head with a bitter smile and said, “I’ve seen these so many times. You better trust me, please.”
The door bell then rang, so モモ pulled Kouda to the side. The bell kept ringing then stopped. Then someone was trying to get into the house by damaging the door. The guy made a big hole on the door. モモ told Kouda to bend down. The door was opened.
The guy started shooting his gun and Kouda got shot. モモ shot the guy down with his gun then pulled the guy out of the door then closed the door. モモ was calling Kouda but Kouda felt very cold. モモ gave Kouda a glass of warm Vodka and said, “you probably lose blood that’s why you feel cold but you will feel warm soon.”
Kouda asked, “where did I get shot at?”
モモ said, “You right shoulder below your shoulder bone but I took the bullet out already. Bone is a bit broken.”
Kouda asked again, “Why am I not in pain?”
モモ answered, “Because I helped you to inject some Morphine.”
Kouda said, “How come you have such thing, seems like you have everything with you!”
モモ then carried Kouda but in a weird position because he got shot at the same spot as Kouda as well. He said he would be fine so they left the apartment and hide at the church. They finished up the sushi and milk Kouda bought then モモ felt asleep at 1am on the bench. Kouda also fell asleep with his arms crossed.
Kouda was waken up by the coldness at 6:30am. モモ’s head was leaning on Kouda’s left shoulder. Kouda then realized モモ’s body was cold.
モモ in Kouda’s heart:
During the robbery, Kouda remembered how モモ taught him and he thought to himself: モモ, it’s alright. Let me do it.
After he succeed at the task that モモ taught him to do, he screamed inside himself: モモ, do you see it? I succeed!
At the end, “Right, モモ. I want to chat with you about God. I want to have deep chats with you…”
